While it might be a little bit late when compared with other telecom providers globally, it is still a very welcome development. 
Almost all devices launched recently are fully 4G LTE enabled and the speed is blazing. This post shows how to confirm 4G LTE service in your area and how to activate it on your phone as well as how you can subscribe to any of the available data plans for each of the network. 
 To Activate MTN 4G LTE Nework 
 
MTN has the widest 4G LTE coverage available for all states in Nigeria. To use MTN 4G data plan, you must be using a compatible phone and must have swapped your sim for MTN 4G sim card from any MTN office nearest to you before you can be part of MTN 4G evolution. 
 
1. Confirm that your device is 4G LTE enabled. Alternatively, use the USSD code, text 4G to 131 on MTN and you will receive a text to know if your device is compatible or it is not. 
 
2. Go to the any MTN Store or Partner and either swap your current MTN sim or just buy a new 4G LTE SIM and registered it. 
 
3. When you have the 4G enabled sim (either by swap or purchase), dial *444# and subscribe to any of the MTN 4G available plans. 
 
MTN 4G Data Plans and How to Subscribe 
 
If you have confirmed your smartphone that it's compatible with MTN 4G network and you have swapped to MTN 4G compatible sim. 
Dial *444# to check and choose MTN 4G data plan suitable for you.

To Activate Glo 4G LTE Nework 
Unlike MTN, Glo 4G LTE network coverage is limited to some selected sim. 
1. Confirm that your device is 4G LTE enabled. Either check the specs written on the body of the device purchase box or go to settings and search for available networks. Alternatively, use the USSD code, text 
4G to 400 on Glo and you will receive a text to know if your device is compatible or it. 
2. Go to the any Glo World Office and either swap your current Glo sim for a 4G LTE sim or just buy a new 4G LTE SIM and registered it. 
3. When you have the 4G enabled sim (either by swap or purchase), dial 
*777# and subscribe to any of the 4G available plans.

4G LTE AS DATA ONLY TECHNOLOGY 
Voice calls cannot be made with 4G LTE as it is a data-only technology but there are two available options for voice calls as detailed below. 
 
✔ Users That Have 3G and 2G Networks 
 
When making a call, the network automatically switches from 4G to 3G/2G and then returns back to 4G as soon as the call is terminated. That's why it's advisable to leave your 4G phone in auto network mode because you might not be able to make calls whenever you use "4G only" mode. 
✔ VoLTE Calls 
VoLTE call is an internet call just like WhatsApp, FB Messenger and BBM calls. Network operators uses it on 4G network. Note that it's different from regular phone calls as it requires Internet connection.

It is very clear that the need revives the ingenuity of people, and a US operator has found it in all its glory with a teenager who got them out for free and unlimited data. Yes, a 17-year-old teenager from the United States was able to discover something curious, as this happened when he found his mobile data getting exhausted. 
Yes, now you all might be thinking that what’s interesting in this? 
So, what if I say you all that now you all can consume unlimited 4G data for free. Hold on actually this is not the real point, though it may sound really interesting. The real point is that the 17-year-old teenager from the United States, known as Jacob Ajit who actually managed to hack the 4G LTE network of a leading telecom company known as T-Mobile and used unlimited data without paying a cent. 
However, T-Mobile allowed Jacob Ajit to connect to its captive portal, where he was asked if he wanted to renew their prepaid plan. “I played around with this portal for a while, clicking on links and trying to escape. Some links failed, and some worked, somewhat randomly” said 17-year-old Jacob Ajit. 
While Jacob Ajit checking whether the random apps would connect to the internet or not interestingly he realized that the Speedtest application (An app to evaluate the speed of your connection) is still working without any active data plan and that gave him an idea with which he managed to keep surfing on his mobile and use the data connection without paying hard earned money.<img src="http://techviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Hacked-4G-Data-SpeedTest.jpg"/> 
Hacked 4G Data SpeedTest 
The 17-year-old teenager from the United States, Jacob Ajit stated that “I was onto something, or was I? I assumed they must be whitelisting Speedtest-affiliated servers in some way, perhaps using the official list?”. 
In this test with the known tool Ookla SpeedTest Jacob told how the mobile was able to download data at 20 Mbps, demonstrating that somehow it was possible to continue to access the Internet. After connecting the phone to his Mac and use the program MITM proxy from which he managed to discover how it was actually happening. 
Hence, Jacob Ajit came to know that T-Mobile was simply allowing the folders named /speedtest. So, Jacob hosted some files on his page with a folder named /speedtest and he was able to watch all the videos that he uploaded without any active data plan.<img src="http://techviral.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Heroku-Proxy-Script-App.png"/>

Jacob Ajit creates a proxy server on Heroku using a tool known as Glype proxy script. The idea was very simple: as he used that proxy as a homepage, through which he could enter any URL to use that configuration fault of T-Mobile and continue browsing even without data. 
However, the young boy showed the problem that existed and contacted with T-Mobile to solve the problem. The solution, he says, is simple, and simply review their whitelist to disable this type of URLs. Currently there has been no response from the operator, but of course, the discovery again shows the ingenuity of some developers as well as the honesty.</div>

February last year,a team of researchers from the University of Surrey managed to achieve a record breaking speed of 1 Terabit per second (1Tbps) during a test of 5G wireless data connections, which is said to be over 500 times faster than Elisa's 4G speed 
While,in June last year,the international Telecommunication Union (ITU) decided that 5G compliant Internet Internet providers will have to provide a standard data speed of up to 20Gbps,which is 10 times faster than Elisa's 4G speed

acquiring Visafone in January this year, we are happy to announce that the "MTN 4G LTE is now live in Lagos and Ibadan" 
According to Kayode and Mr Mo of 
mobilityarena , the 4G LTE hit this two cities just few hours after MTN started their testing of the service. 
Those that have Visafone lines should be able to get the signal on their phones in these locations as the service extend to others parts of the country soon. If MTN provides a good 4G network, then it might smell bad for the likes of SMILE 4G,Spectranet and even Ntel.
