Finally, Igbo and Yoruba languages has been added to Facebook to complete the three major Nigerian language options on the world's most popular social media platform. Before now, Hausa Language was the main Nigerian indigenous language option on the platform but after Facebook CEO visit to Nigeria, he promised to add tye other indigenous languages.Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed that
"having local contents on the Facebook platform would ensure that more people were connected", he however further predicted that "in 10 to 15 years, the company hopes to get everyone in the world connected online."
Meanwhile, there is no official statement from in regards to the new additions yet but the new languages are already added to Facebook and you can see it on your Facebook language options. The only reservation is that Igbo Language is still under development stage and I believe; that's why Facebook haven't released official statement yet.
Additionally, the Yoruba language is partially functional as at the time of filing this report but the Hausa language is fully functional and working perfectly.
HOW CAN I CHANGE FACEBOOK LANGUAGE?
It's simple, to change your Facebook language, launch your Facebook app or open your Facebook account with web browser, after that, visit language option on your account and select either Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. I see this as a cool business strategy and it will go a long way to actualizing Facebook's target of connecting everyone on earth to the platform in the next ten years.
As of the second quarter of 2016, Facebook had 1.71 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed 1 billion. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days.
