This isn’t the first time that the company will produce an extraordinary device. The Turing Phone is a recent example which is famous for being the
world’s most secure smartphone, even though it took quite long for it to be finally released.
Three Snapdragon 830 chips with 24 Kryo cores will power the device, but Qualcomm is yet to announce the processor. There are claims that the device will feature 18GB of RAM, 768GB of internal storage and two microSD slots supporting up to 256GB memory cards each. A slide-out keyboard is also present.
Turing CEO, Steve Chao explains further on the choice of name in a newsletter:
“ Inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, we decided to go with the term “Monolith.” Monoliths are long-lived and reliable machines able to survive for millions of years buried in the ground or in space with no apparent damage. They are virtually indestructible and encourage humankind to progress with technological development and space travel.
Regarding specs, the Turing Phone Candenza shares some features with the Monolith Chanconne. A 60MP camera is placed at the rear, while the selfie camera is 20MP. It will sport 12GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, two Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processors and run on Swordfish OS. A 3600mAh hydrogen fuel-cell battery will power the device.
Both smartphones are expected to be released in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
